"The Man Who Cried 'Clown'" is the first segment of the twelfth episode from Season 1 of Johnny Bravo.

Synopsis[]

In this episode, Johnny enters "The Zone Where Normal Things Don't Happen Very Often". Johnny starts to hallucinate that there is a clown on the wing of the airplane that he and his mother Bunny are flying on. The clown is throwing things into the engine, causing the plane to experience problems.

Plot Summary[]

Johnny and his Mama are flying in an airplane. He looks out the window and is horrified to see a clown on the wing who starts attacking the wing and the engine. He asks Mama to look out the window, but the clown slips away and Mama tells Johnny to stop bothering her because she wants to sleep and dream of Tom Jones in his jacuzzi. He asks the man sitting behind him for help, but the man angrily says he fell for that before and hits an ejector seat button to exit the plane.

Johnny goes to the pilots' cabin to ask for help, but the pilots are playing with a piñata instead of flying the plane and slam the door in his face. He runs into a flight attendant and flirts with her, but the clown rips off part of the wing, making the plane briefly spin and Johnny and the attendant somehow swap clothes. The attendant angrily grabs him, swaps their clothes back, and drags him back to his seat.

The clown suddenly opens the window, resulting in Johnny's upper body getting sucked out. The clown then paints Johnny's face to look like a clown. Mama pulls Johnny back in and reprimands him for "playing with the window" and painting his face. He goes back to the pilots' cabin, but the pilots are playing Twister instead of flying the plane. They slam the door in his face again, thus removing the clown makeup. Back in his seat, he turns on the air conditioner, but the clown emerges and turns it up so high that Johnny is blown out of his seat. Later, the clown sneaks up and repeatedly turns the light on every time Johnny turns it off, leading Mama to reprimand him for playing with the lights. Johnny tries to fight the clown directly, but gets tangled in wires and the clown mockingly kisses him.

Enraged, Johnny breaks free and finds a bag that reads, "IN CASE OF EVIL CLOWN, PULL STRING". He pulls it and a female clown appears. The clown is sneezing into the dishes when Johnny presents the female clown. Attracted, the clown lunges at her, but Johnny grabs him by the throat, drags him into the restroom, and beats him up to death then flushes him down the toilet. He returns to his seat content, peacefully. Suddenly, the crew reprimand him for getting rid of the clown because that clown was the vital part of their "Duo Clowny Wing Balance-Outta-Lotta", explaining there is a clown on the other wing and their job is to balance the plane. They cannot possibly land with only one clown. Johnny says he can explain apologizing, but it didn't work; the crew wasted no time beats him up, severely.

While Mama continues to sleep and dream of Tom Jones, Johnny has been forced to dress like a clown and take the (deceased) evil clown's place on the wing as punishment for flushing down the evil clown in the toilet, looking absolutely very miserable.

Trivia[]

  • The first of three Twilight Zone parodies, this episode specifically parodies "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet".
  • Mama Bravo dreams of being in a jacuzzi with Tom Jones.
  • The pilots swing at a piñata instead of flying the plane.
    • Two men dressed as clowns on each wing of the plane, for no logical reasons.
    • There's "In Case of Evil Clown", which proved Johnny was right.
    • The Evil Bullying Clown is pestering Johnny rather than doing his job; IN FULL VIEW of everyone.
  • The Evil Clown may hate his job and was trying to make someone put him out of his misery.
  • Apparently Johnny suffers from coulrophobia (an irrational fear of clowns), however in "I Used to Be Funny" he doesn't seem to be afraid of them and in later episodes he dresses like one in a hospital (Much to his embarrassment).
  • Throughout the episode, the Evil Clown just said "Honk Honk" as he squeaks his nose. So does Johnny Bravo at the end.
