"The Johnny Bravo Affair" is a Season 3 episode of Johnny Bravo.

Synopsis[]

Johnny falls asleep in a mummy casket and is awoken when a cat burglar attempts to steal the world's largest piece of cubic zirconium. But after Johnny accidentally eats it, he is kidnapped and taken back to her place (to his excitement).

Plot Summary[]

Johnny and his mother are at a local art museum, looking at dog versions of famous paintings like the Mona Lisa and American Gothic. Johnny's obviously not as into it as Bunny is, so she gives him some money to get something from the vending machine. Later on, Johnny tries hitting on an attractive blonde woman admiring a painting, but she ends up punching him so hard that Johnny falls down a flight of stairs and right into a sarcophagus in the museum's Ancient Egyptian-wing, where he ends up falling asleep.

Johnny wakes up several hours later, but at that point, it's well past closing time for the museum -- while this is a going on, a jewel thief named Mitzi breaks in to steal the Heart of Pomona, the world's largest cubic zirconia that's being housed at the museum. After disabling some lasers protecting the zirconia, Mitzi tries breaking the case with various gadgets, but the case is revealed to be made of pure diamond (and Mitzi doesn't fail to note the irony of it).

Johnny soon comes up to Mitzi and, after realizing that he's not working as a security guard at the museum, she forcefully smashes his head against the case, finally breaking it. But then the two get into a bit of scuffle over the Heart of Pomona, which ultimately leads to Johnny swallowing it (albeit accidentally). When a security guard finally catches them, Mitzi takes Johnny back to her place, which excites the meathead.

At Mitzi's apartment (which looks like a stereotypical villain's lair), Johnny's feeling nervous (claiming that he's never been in a woman's apartment like this before) and accidentally destroys a valuable Ming vase. This angers Mitzi, but she quickly calms herself down and goes to change into something "more comfortable." While Mitzi's gone, Johnny accidentally destroys a bunch of other stuff in the room -- when Mitzi discovers this after changing into some evening wear, she's angry but calms down again upon noting that the value of the cubic zirconia in Johnny's stomach will be more than enough to make up for it. Mitzi brings out a giant laser beam that will be powerful enough to get the gemstone out of the meathead's stomach.

Johnny, still smitten with Mitzi, is completely unaware of the danger he's in -- fortunately, Bunny soon arrives at Mitzi's apartment with some police officers and some security guards from the art museum. After a brief scuffle, Mitzi's captured/arrested and Johnny (under some rubble collapsed from the ceiling of Mitzi's apartment) is ultimately safe, which relieves his mom. But, as the security guard points out to Bunny, the museum needs the Heart of Pomona back. But since the gemstone is still in Johnny's stomach and the meathead has a rather slow metabolism, Bunny has to come up with a compromise with the art museum until the cubic zirconia finally comes out of Johnny's body.

The end of the episode shows a chagrined Johnny sitting in a display at the museum with an x-ray in front of his stomach, showing the Heart of Pomona to visitors at the museum. He's trying to get people to keep the line moving and gets annoyed when a visitor pulls out a camera, despite the rule about flash photography.

Trivia[]

  • This episode is a parody of the feature film, The Thomas Crown Affair.
  • When Johnny falls asleep in the sarcophagus, he can be heard murmuring "Oh, an all-girl jury..." This is re-used audio from "Little Talky Tabitha!", taken from the scene where Johnny falls asleep at Suzy's tea party.
  • The promo for this episode's premiere during Cartoon Cartoon Fridays has the announcer refering to it as "a new episode of Johnny Bravo where Johnny finally finds culture in Aron City's finest museum", a possible continuity error by the network.
  • The Sugar Nips that Johnny gets from the vending machine must cost at least 80¢, because when Johnny tries asking Mitzi out to dinner, he claims to have 20¢ leftover from the $1 that Bunny gave him after buying the Sugar Nips.
