"The Incredible Shrinking Johnny" is a Season 3 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Plot Summary[]
When Johnny heads to Pig Boy Foods to buy foot powder for his mother, he mistakenly enters Octavia's Black Magic store. There, he grabs some odd items before he notices Octavia at the counter. After Johnny slobbers on her hand in an attempt at flirting and misunderstands her, the woman casts a curse on him and kicks him out. According to her, the curse will cause him to shrink until he disappears out of existence.
Johnny decides to jump on his scooter, only to discover that it has gotten bigger, not realizing that he is shrinking. On the way home, he is pulled over by a cop, who mistakes Johnny for a kid and tries to arrest him. However, thanks to the curse, Johnny shrinks enough to escape. He spots Little Suzy and asks for her help, in which she takes him back to her house and dresses him up for a tea party. Due to Johnny's rudeness, Suzy gives him a "time out" and places him on the top shelf. While trying to figure out a way out of this, Johnny uses a yo-yo string and falls into a gerbil cage. He then angers the pet and barely manages to escape.
When he notices Carl's house across the street, Johnny makes a slingshot and uses it to launch himself through the window, but not before starting to shrink again and landing on Carl's microscope. Carl returns to his room to check on his amoebas, which Johnny is now the size of. Johnny gets Carl's attention and asks for help, however the amoeba tries to absorb him. Carl rushes to get his molecular re-enlarger and shoots the beam at Johnny.
Later, as Suzy is walking down the street, she sees Johnny (at his normal size) and Carl getting chased by the now-enlarged amoeba.
Trivia[]
- When Johnny is approached by the officer, he panics and says "I-I didn't steal cable! I never pulled the tag off that pillow! The cement had my handprints in it when I got there!"
- This episode reveals that Carl lives in the same neighborhood as Johnny and Little Suzy -- in fact, Carl lives right across the street from the latter (who lives right next door to Johnny).
Cultural References[]
- Carl exclaims, "I could put you in my bloodstream, and you could help me digest simple sugars!" This is a nod to The Fantastic Voyage and the plot trope associated with it.
Episode Connections[]
- Johnny believes that his scooter got bigger because of the oil he had been using, saying "[he] thought [it] finished growing," This may have been a reference to Johnny's belief that he could plant a toy car in "Days Of Blunder".
- Johnny claims that he did not steal cable. This is proven false in "The Hansel & Gretel Project".
