"Robo-Mama!" is a Season 3 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Plot[]
Bunny's hoping to compete in a bingo tournament over in Las Vegas for the weekend but is having a hard time bringing herself to leave her son, Johnny (especially since it'd one of the only times he's ever been home alone). When Johnny brings the mail in, she tries telling him then, but he ends up mistaking a broom for his new younger brother (even naming the broom "Sweepy"). Just as Bunny's lamenting about being unable to bring herself to leave her son, she finds an ad in Suffocating Mothers Quarterly for something called "Robo-Mama." Calling it "the world's most advanced automated robotic mother! Your family will never know the difference!" Bunny's a bit hesitant but ultimately orders one and it arrives almost instantaneously. Sending Johnny outside to distract him, Bunny opens the package with the Robo-Mama and checks out the different settings ("Neglectful," "Permissive" and "Overprotective"). Bunny sets the robot to overprotective and eagerly sets off for Las Vegas.
Johnny comes back in just after his mom leaves and notices the Robo-Mama but thinks it's his real mama, not realizing that it's just a robot. The Robo-Mama gets to work on serving as Johnny's mom while Bunny's gone -- the first thing she does is make Johnny take a bath when she sees how dirty he is after being outside. And the "overprotective" mode of the robot lives up to it's name, to the point of where it makes Johnny wear pads and a helmet just to fly a kite -- although this turns out to be a good thing when Johnny's kite gets caught in some tree branches, and he yanks it down hard enough where it hits him in the head (which is protected by his helmet) and suddenly gets struck by lightning (although the gear seems to protect him). Robo-Mama soon makes Johnny go grocery shopping with her -- but when Johnny goes to flirt with an attractive female employee at the grocery store, Robo-Mama goes crazy to protect Johnny from the supposed "hussy."
We then cut to Bunny at her bingo tournament in Las Vegas -- Bunny's doing great, but a TV in the hall where the tournament is being held shows a news bulletin about the Robo-Mamas that Bunny had ordered. As it turns out, the robots are being recalled due to a defect in the latest model's personality chip causing dangerous/unpredictable behavior and advise anyone who own the robots to deactivate them immediately. Realizing that her son's in serious danger, Bunny rushes back to Aron City to save Johnny -- after initially stopping at the wrong house, Bunny soon arrives back home and confronts Robo-Mama. Bunny gets into a fight with the android (who insists that she's Johnny's mother and not Bunny). Soon, it's decided that the best way to resolve the fight is for Johnny to decide who his real mother is, Johnny seemingly picks the android -- but before Robo-Mama can do away with Bunny, Johnny removes the robot's battery pack to save his mom.
Upon being questioned about it by his mom, Johnny claims that the mother he knows would never hurt another living creature (even if it was a robot). After sharing a heartfelt hug with her son, Bunny takes a mallet and begins violently destroying the android, which is looked upon by Johnny and Sweepy, who tells his "brother," "That's our mama!"
Trivia[]
- Running Gag: Johnny often confuses a sweeping brush for his little brother, Sweepy.
- The company that makes the "Robo-Mama" androids is called the Fujitaki Corporation -- going off of that, it's most likely a Japanese-company.
Cultural References[]
