"Red Faced in the White House" is a Season 1 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
Johnny goes on a date with the President's daughter, only to outrage and humiliate her with his lack of knowledge of Washington by accident. Johnny then finds himself beaten up by her bodyguards (who are Secret Service agents), Agent Pim and Agent Shlomo. However, Pim and Shlomo are more skilled as fighters than Johnny is in karate, jujitsu, and interpretive dance.
Plot[]
Johnny has taken a trip to Washington, D.C. While on a tour of the White House, the tour guide shows the group a pen that was used to sign the 19th Amendment. Johnny questions this decision, saying that he "didn't think chicks liked to vote." This leads the women in the tour group to chase him down the hallway.
Meanwhile, in a different room, a scientist approaches the President and his daughter, Bonnie. The scientist has brought his new robot, the Boybot 2000, as a boyfriend for Bonnie. Bonnie protests this, but the President explains that it is too dangerous for her to go on a real date with a real boy. The gentlemanly Boybot offers to take Bonnie out, but his head pops off. Bonnie yells at everyone to leave her room.
Johnny is still being chased by the angry mob. At that moment, Boybot's head rolls into view of the crowd, scaring them off. Before Johnny can safely leave, he hears Bonnie crying. He enters her room, and starts his usual flexing to try and cheer her up. In response, she starts beating him with a stick, thinking he's another robot. But, Johnny's cries of pain make her stop. She asks if he is going to take her on a date. Johnny agrees, and she drags him off. The President catches wind of this, and tells a pair of Secret Service agents, Pim and Shlomo, to follow them and make sure Bonnie is safe.
Johnny and Bonnie go to a restaurant first. Shlomo impersonates the waiter, and asks the pair what they want. Johnny orders two steaks, cooked to perfection. Before Shlomo can bring the food out, Pim says he needs to check them for poison or foreign objects. He does so by manhandling and stomping on the steaks. Shlomo serves up the destroyed food to Johnny and Bonnie. In response, Johnny throws the steaks at Shlomo and the chef.
Bonnie decides to show Johnny the sights in D.C. At the Washington Monument, he isn't impressed by the lack of color on the spire. At the Lincoln Memorial, Johnny can only comment on Lincoln Log toys. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Johnny proposes that someone open the tomb to see who the "Unknown Soldier" is. Bonnie has had enough of Johnny's ignorance and screams for Pim and Shlomo to make Johnny go away. Johnny attempts to fight them off, but is no match for the Secret Service.
Back at the White House, the President gently scolds Bonnie for going out with a real boy, stating she was lucky Johnny was an idiot. Bonnie says she will date robots from that point on. The scientist from earlier brings in another Boybot, who happily says he loves Bonnie and will take care of her. She pulls him into a hug. The President asks what Pim and Shlomo did with Johnny. Pim says the problem was "under control."
At the Pentagon, deep underground in the storage warehouse, there is an entire crate of broken, discarded Boybots. They comment on how dark it is, but are glad that their new friend, Johnny, is there to hang out with them.
Trivia[]
The episode's gag that the President's daughter couldn't date real boys was inaccurate, as then Presidential daughter Chelsea Clinton was in fact dating by the time the episode aired.
