"Noir Johnny" is a Season 2 episode of Johnny Bravo.

Synopsis[]

Johnny becomes a detective (because chicks love detectives) and takes the case of Suzy's missing doll.

Plot Summary[]

Sitting on the couch, Johnny ponders one burning question: "Where do the tiny people in your TV come from?" Pulling at the cable wire from underground, Johnny follows it outside. After yanking hard enough, a utility poll falls on his head. Suzy enters, begging Johnny to help find her stolen Jiggle Me Jimbo doll. Johnny is initially sarcastic and asks if he looks like a detective, until Suzy claims that women love private eyes.

Johnny & Femme

Johnny and Femme.

Now in a detective get-up, Johnny points a magnifying glass at an ant, making it appear huge. Fearful, Johnny flees to the park and begins interrogating children. He ignores a child who witnessed the event, instead focusing his attention on Femme, a typical femme fatale. She refuses to tell Johnny anything she might know and orders her bodyguard Otto to dispose of him in a garbage can. Suzy then suggests he take his search to a place where "life's angry losers baste in their own twisted juices." Johnny decides Pop's Moon Palace is just the place.

Detective Johnny At Diner

Johnny at the diner.

Johnny tries to bribe Pops with money to make him talk, although Pops repeats in earnest that he knows nothing about the case. After this fails and Pops takes the cash anyway, he suggests roughing up the fellow lowlifes in the diner. Discovering a mysterious man in one of the booths, Johnny interrogates him and flicks water into his eyes. Having already offered to give info without any fuss, the man grows frustrated and calls for Otto to dispose of Johnny once again. Outside, Suzy asks about his progress and Johnny agrees on a deal for her to triple his salary, although she was not going to pay him to begin with.

Femme kisses Johnny

In the evening, Johnny strolls through the city streets and slams into a toy store window. He spots a Jiggle Me Jimbo doll on display, realizing he could buy Suzy a replacement and go home. Suspiciously, he finds that the store's door lock had already been jimmied. He enters, catching Femme red-handed with the stolen toy and her plan to hoard the dolls to sell to children at "jacked-up" prices. Planning to escape, Femme runs Johnny over in a tiny toy car before Suzy arrives at the scene with policemen. Afterwards, Femme tries to convince Johnny to "let [her] off the hook," which he refuses. After revealing she has feelings for him, she gives him a kiss on the cheek and gets taken away by police, much to his dismay. Johnny tries to blame Suzy for the crime instead, running after the police van. Meanwhile, Suzy notices that her missing doll had gotten dirty and throws it at the toy store window before merrily leaving the crime scene.

Episode Connections[]

Cultural References[]

  • The Jiggle Me Jimbo doll is a parody of Tickle Me Elmo.
    • Femme's plan is a nod to the 1996 craze after the doll's release, as a lack of supply started a "shopping frenzy" of demand and led to others selling the toy for outrageous prices.
