Master Hama is Johnny's karate teacher, though he hates Johnny for his stupidity and offer screwing things up for Master Hama (as well as injuring him).
Because of Johnny's stupidity as well as his klutzy nature, Master Hama usually just makes him do chores and other grunt work around his karate studio instead of teaching him any actual martial arts.
Also, despite Johnny's impressive physique, he's generally the worst of Master Hama's students -- and all the other students at Master Hama's karate studio appear to be children (more specifically, kids who appear to be around the same age as Johnny's next-door neighbor, Little Suzy). Even the smallest and weakest of Master Hama's students have been shown to easily defeat the meathead -- although Johnny's also been shown to be rather cowardly when it comes to the prospect of getting into an actual physical fight with someone.
Hama never considers Johnny as a real student.
