Synopsis[]
When Johnny agrees to take the initiation trial for the Brotherhood of the Gnu, a fraternity that Pops and Carl are members of, he must face the daunting tasks of eating one potato chip and listening to Brother Ernie's unnecessarily long story of buying a new couch.

- In Poland, the "I like pie!" scene (translated to "Lubię placki!" in Polish) became an internet meme and seems to be considered one of Johnny's most iconic lines.
- The secret phrase to enter the lodge is "The sum of the whole is equal to the square of the parts," a misquote of Aristotle's "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
- This was likely also a misquote of the Pythagorean theorem, the one thing Johnny was not smart enough to remember in a previous episode, "Bootman". If so, this suggests the phrase was created to keep Johnny out of the lodge.
- This episode premiered alongside "Chain Gang Johnny" and "Lumberjack Johnny" on the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays block. However, there seems to be confusion about the network's scheduling and claims that "Chain Gang Johnny", "Bootman", and a few others were aired out of production order during the season.
