King Raymond is the self-centered, evil ape ruler of the African jungle where Jungle Boy lives. He is jealous of all the attention and praise Jungle Boy receives from the other animals and wants to find a way to stop him or steal their attention back. He has a servant named Rupert.
In "Jungle Boy in "Mr. Monkeyman"", Raymond disguises himself as Jungle Boy and causes chaos throughout the jungle. When the real Jungle Boy returns, the animals give him the silent treatment. However, they quickly decide they cannot stay mad at him, as he is only a child. Raymond enters, still in his disguise. He then starts a contest to see who is the real Jungle Boy by holding the longest note. Raymond's loud singing causes a rockslide and he ends up crushed, while the animals see his fallen wig and realize the truth. Raymond attempts to hold Jungle Boy hostage, but immediately gets a beating from him. The animals chase after Raymond, planning to tar and feather him for trying to frame Jungle Boy.
In his second appearance, after Johnny Bravo accidentally breaks Jungle Boy's leg and infuriates the animals, Raymond is determined to capture him and be seen as the greater hero. When a trap fails, he climbs up a tree and attempts to kill Johnny by throwing logs at him. Johnny uses two beavers as weapons and saws right through the wood, soon cutting the tree down. Raymond soon places another trap, which succeeds in capturing him. After Jungle Boy convinces everyone that he should be freed, Raymond tries to hold Johnny hostage. Jungle Boy once again gives him a beating and a snake bites Raymond's arm, injecting him with venom and rendering him unconscious.
