"Johnny Get Your Tutu" is a Season 2 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
After accidentally submitting a piece of art by Suzy instead of his career test, Johnny is selected as a ballerina in a studio.
Plot Summary[]
Johnny retrieves some mail from his mailbox. He is excited to find some junk mail, but is interrupted by Suzy. She presents him with her latest artwork, a series of black spots on paper. Johnny dismissively compliments her work, and starts reading the junk mail. It is a pamphlet and Scantron test for choosing a new career at Ken's Career Institute. Johnny takes the test while Suzy makes another black spot drawing. Later, the pair of them finish their work. Johnny takes Suzy's paper to look at it, and it looks very similar to his test. He gives her back one of the papers, then heads outside to mail his test off (getting hit by the mail truck in the process).
Some time later, Johnny gets his results back. The computers at the career center have determined that Johnny should become a ballet dancer. He doesn't mind this, as he feels he would look good in tights. He makes his way to the theater, where rehearsals for "Swan Pond" are underway. Johnny notices a trio of pretty ballerinas and flirts with them, which earns him three slaps in the face. Meanwhile, the director of the production is yelling at The Great Spazkowski, his leading man for the ballet. The director calls Spazkowski a disgusting blob for his recent weight gain. Insulted, the dancer quits. The director declares he can teach a gorilla to dance better than Spazkowski, and upon leaving the dressing room, sees Johnny. After Johnny introduces himself to the director, he is given a set of tights and sent to the stage.
Rehearsals begin poorly, as Johnny steps on the ballerinas' feet, and roughly handles them while lifting them into the air. The director responds by manhandling and throwing him around. Later, the director asks Johnny to leap around the stage "like a stag in the forest." To help with this, the director releases dogs onto the stage to chase Johnny. Johnny leaps and prances gracefully over the dogs, and the director is pleased with the progress.
Meanwhile, Suzy is holding an art exhibition for her teddy bear. She shows off her black spot drawings, but notices that one of them looks weird. She inspects it more closely and realizes that it is actually Johnny's career test. She hurries off to mail it.
Much later, the premiere of "Swan Pond" is about to start. The director gives his dancers a pep talk, and warns Johnny to not screw up. The dancers all get into place and begin the show. Johnny starts off well, gently lifting and setting down the other dancers, and grand jeté-ing like a pro. But, Suzy has snuck in backstage. She gets Johnny's attention and presents him with the real results of his test. The institute determined that Johnny would best be suited for breaking boulders with his head. Johnny feels unwell at this news, but the director boots him back onto the stage. Johnny, now feeling very unconfident in his ballet ability, starts posing, shaking his butt at the audience and tossing the ballerinas around. His antics eventually cause the chandelier in the theater to crash onto the ground and start a fire. Everyone evacuates, and the director kicks Johnny so hard that he flies out of the city limits.
Outside the city, a large boulder is blocking the highway. Construction workers are ready to get some dynamite to blow it up, but Johnny flies in, head-first, and destroys the rock. The head construction worker offers Johnny a job, and Johnny dizzily accepts.
Trivia[]
- This was one of the few Johnny Bravo episodes with production art once featured on the Cartoon Network website's Department of Cartoons (the "D.O.C.").
- Due to the episode ending without an iris out, the Hindi dub features the end card from the first and fourth seasons instead of cutting straight to a commercial break.
