Johnny Bravo Goes to Bollywood is a 2011 Indian-American animated made-for-television film adaption of a 2009 short based on the Johnny Bravo series. It was produced as a collaborative effort between Cartoon Network Studios in the United States and Cartoon Network India. The film (also referred to as a special) was directed by creator Van Partible, who also served as one of the writers on the story.
Unlike the short, the film was dubbed into English, with Jeff Bennett and Brenda Vaccaro reprising their roles as Johnny and Bunny Bravo. Despite this, it has never aired in the United States. It premiered on Cartoon Network Australia and New Zealand on November 4th, 2011.
The film was produced to capitalize on the long-lived popularity of the series in India, where the series still aired via reruns. Johnny Bravo as a character had become something of a beloved pop culture icon in the country, embodying the over-the-top, parodic nature of Indian cinema. The film serves as both a parody of Indian and American pop culture, as well as a tribute to India and Johnny Bravo.
Unlike the series, the film was made using Adobe Flash puppet animation. This animation was done by Inspidea Studios in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[1]
