- This episode's title and plot is a parody of the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.
- After Johnny climbs up the stalk and finds the castle on top of it, he references a bunch of other famous fairytales, but jumbles up the titles by saying "Little Red Rumpelstiltskin and the Three Bears and Gretel."
- The fairytale of Hansel and Gretel is eventually referenced/parodied in "The Hansel & Gretel Project."
- Little Red Riding Hood is also referenced/parodied in "Little Red Riding Johnny."
