"In Your Dreams" is a Season 3 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
Johnny finally meets the girl of his dreams-- literally, causing things to go awry when his thoughts drift.
Plot[]
Johnny is having lunch at Pops' Moon Palace, pretending his spoonful of chili is a plane. After he misses the "hangar," a beautiful blonde woman sits next to him. Johnny is at first annoyed at the woman for invading his booth before noticing how gorgeous she is. She asks what Johnny is eating, and he explains that it is chili with extra motor oil. The girl swoons and asks Johnny to kiss her. Before they do, a tiny Carl bursts out of the napkin dispenser. Carl tries to explain that none of what Johnny is seeing and doing is real. Johnny is dreaming at Carl's sleep research center, but is unable to wake up. Carl tells Johnny to slap himself to be shocked awake. Considering the choices between a beautiful woman and Carl, Johnny folds Carl into a paper airplane and sends him flying away. Johnny proposes that he and the woman go somewhere more private.
The pair go to see a Swedish karate movie. Johnny says he is falling for the mystery woman. But, before she can tell him the same, she turns into Bunny and tells Johnny to do chores. Johnny is confused, but Carl emerges from the popcorn bucket to explain the situation again. Since Johnny is dreaming, whatever he thinks about will become the dream's reality. Johnny then thinks of a pterodactyl flying in and taking Carl away. After that, Johnny thinks really hard, and conjures Dream Girl at his side again to resume their date.
Later, Johnny and Dream Girl and in a hot tub car under the moonlight. Dream Girl asks what Johnny's thinking about. Johnny responds that he is thinking about how cool he is. The word "cool" sidetracks him enough that he starts thinking about a frozen wasteland. He quickly changes the scenery to a warm beach, and Dream Girl comes back. She again asks what Johnny is thinking. He refuses to tell her, or think about anything else. She tells him to just relax and not imagine her as a one-eyed, tentacled sea monster. Sure enough, Johnny imagines that, and the monster chases him around. Johnny tries hitting himself with a rock and having a lobster clamp onto his ear in order to wake up. Neither of those work, so he approaches some island natives. He asks them to hurt him awake, but the chief refuses, saying his people are peaceful. Johnny insults them, and the tribe starts throwing objects at him. Someone throws a kitchen sink directly in his face, and that seems to do the trick.
Johnny awakens in a hospital. The nearby nurse explains that he was admitted several days earlier after eating a bowl of wax fruit. Johnny points out that the nurse looks like the girl in his dream. The nurse responds that she is Dream Girl, taking her hair down and removing her glasses. She and Johnny embrace, but before they can kiss, a violent electrical shock finally wakes Johnny up for real. He is in Carl's research room, and Carl explains that Johnny was reaching "Dreamcon 4." Johnny demands to go home, but Carl refuses. He says that Johnny needs to stay in the research center for three more days for observation, but will be with Johnny the entire time. Johnny picks up a nearby clock and starts bashing himself in the head with it, begging to go back to sleep.
