"Hip Hop Flop" is a Season 1 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
Johnny wants to go on a date with a woman who's into hip hop music but she refuses unless he can join the Round Pound Hip Hop concert.
Plot[]
Johnny walks down the street and sees a cute girl wearing hip-hop clothes. She is looking at a poster for a concert featuring the Round Pound. Johnny approaches the girl and flirts with her, but she isn't interested until he says he's friends with the rappers. At that point, the Round Pound's tour bus drives by. The girl asks if Johnny can get them to pull over, and Johnny approaches the bus at it reaches a stoplight. He knocks on the window, and one of the rappers, CD Biggains, pokes his head out. He thinks Johnny is a beggar, and dumps all the ice from his soda on Johnny's head. The bus drives off. The girl isn't impressed, and says she can't be seen with Johnny if he isn't down with the Pound.
Later, the Round Pound bus is parked outside the nightclub where the concert will be. Another member of the group, Heavy C, gets very hungry and hallucinates that a turntable is a sandwich. He eats the whole thing, to the distress of the groups DJ, Main Flavor. CD tells the crew that they will go into down to find a store that sells audio equipment before the concert starts. But, they barely make it 10 feet outside of the tour bus before collapsing from exhaustion. Just as they're about to give up and cancel the show, Johnny approaches them. The group talks, and CD strikes up a deal. In exchange for helping the rappers get a turntable, the Round Pound will teach Johnny the ways of hip-hop and put him in the show.
Johnny gets an old phonograph in a matter of seconds, and the rappers begin their lessons. They start with Johnny's clothes. They find him some pump sneakers and a jester hat to wear. As they continue getting his new look together, they teach him about what "phat", "stupid", and "fly" mean.
Later that night, the Round Pound show starts. As the group starts performing, the cute girl from earlier looks around for Johnny in the crowd. She is annoyed and calls him a poser. At that moment, CD introduces the newest member of the crew: Johnny Bravo. He is wearing a full hip hop outfit, complete with baggy pants and a giant clock around his neck. Johnny starts "rapping," and the crowd loves it. He even gets the girl fans screaming for him.
After the show, the cute girl waits for Johnny backstage. He and the Round Pound come through the door, and the girl tells Johnny he was great. Johnny asks her out to dinner, but she declines, saying that she is already dating the nightclub's owner, Myron. Myron, a man old enough to be the woman's grandfather, appears, and the pair leave. Johnny says "That's wack," as the episode ends.
