"Hail To The Chump" is a Season 2 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
When the entire town government comes down with food poisoning at the annual Ahi Tuna Festival, Johnny is given the duty of mayor.
Plot Summary[]
The episode begins on the day of the town's 16th annual Ahi Tuna Fest. The mayor starts the festival, not long before eating some of Pops' tuna tots. He and the rest of the town government then suffer food poisoning, which causes Pops to panic and leave the scene. Seeing the mayor struggling, Carl grabs the city charter to figure out what to do next. It is then revealed, in such a specific event, the "village idiot" will be proclaimed mayor. Carl believes this to be Johnny, and goes to a construction site (where Johnny was just making mud angels) to give him the news.
Johnny is soon sworn in as mayor by Carl, who tells him his ideas for the town. As Carl talks, Johnny poorly crafts a new law declaring that all "geeky dweebs" be thrown in prison. Johnny then begins his reign, making awful decisions such as having a library torn down and replaced with a giant sphinx in his likeness, and surrounding himself with beautiful women as servants. Pops soon enters, mad at Johnny's health inspectors for charging him more than the old mayor. Johnny dismisses him and directs him to his new city council, which is also made up of beautiful women.
Meanwhile, Carl successfully digs himself out of prison with a spoon. Now free, he goes to the top of the sphinx and convinces the townspeople to rebel against Johnny. When they arrive, Carl makes a long-winded speech about democracy before the others throw him out a window. Johnny is then overthrown by the angry townspeople, who proceed to punish him by putting him in a medieval pillory and throwing objects at him, such as a fish.
