Synopsis[]

Plot Summary[]

Characters[]

Quotes[]

  • Bunny: You [Johnny] can sleep in the chiffonier tonight. (her son's weight causes her bed to move to a different angle)
  • Johnny: I mean I was not afraid. (lights out) Johnny scared.

Trivia[]

Suzy's psychology degree.

Suzy's psychology degree.

  • Suzy's psychology degree appears as a transition, revealing she earned it from the website "shrink-u.org" on March 2nd, 2000.
    • Similarly to the present year being 1999 in "Brave New Johnny", this "easter egg" implies the third season takes place in the year 2000, likely when the episode was originally planned to air.
  • On the title card, Suzy's notes only contain unfinished games of tic-tac-toe.
  • The ending of this episode is very similar to a scene in Season 4's "That's Entertainment!", where a mysterious figure (revealed to be Donny Osmond) stands in the doorway to the Bravo house, terrifying Johnny and Suzy.
  • Carl being Johnny's school bully is meant to be a reversal twist of the "jock bullies nerd" trope, as one would expect that instead, given their current relationship.
  • It is never stated when the school flashback takes place, but it is assumed to be middle school or high school due to Johnny's acne and shorter height. In "The Time Of My Life", Johnny is much taller in high school and has a mullet, although that may just be exclusive to Van Partible's vision.
  • The bullying reveal contradicts "Carl Be Not Proud", where Johnny implies he has been mean to Carl since they were kids, and that Carl has always fantasized him as his best friend.
    • As Johnny only recalls the memory here, any past bullying from Carl is not mentioned or hinted at in any other episode.
    • Continuity in the retool (disregarding the first and fourth seasons) is at times flimsy, creating similar problems.
  • This was the first episode to reveal that Johnny had been bullied as a child. In later episodes, it is revealed he was also a victim of Stinky Brownstein, Little Ricky Simmons, etc.
  • The scene where Johnny sips coffee beans and ketchup on his breakfast, which he spits out, is an homage to Mr. Bean dips twigs in marmite in his show’s episode, “Do-It-Yourself, Mr. Bean”
  • Bunny gives Johnny baby food and takes him to a daycare once she becomes busy when he is turned back into a baby in "Look Who's Drooling".
  • Johnny's problems with intimacy and love are proven throughout the series by his inexperience with dating, how he pushes away close friends such as Carl and Suzy, and how he avoids committing to a long-term romantic relationship (thus he is open to the idea of cheating).
  • In the flashbacks to Johnny and Carl's younger years, Carl claims to be three weeks older than Johnny. Assuming that this is true, this would mean one of two things:
    • 1.) Johnny claims to be Libra in "Ape is Enough" (an episode from the previous season), which would mean that his birthday is anywhere on/from September 23rd to October 22nd -- this would mean that Carl's birthday is anywhere on/from September 2nd to October 1st, making him either a Virgo (if he was born between September 2nd and September 22nd) or a Libra (if he was born between September 23rd and October 1st).
    • 2.) "It's Valentine's Day, Johnny Bravo" claims that Johnny's birthday is on February 14th (which is Valentine's Day) -- this would mean that Carl's birthday is on January 24th. This in turn would also make both Carl and Johnny Aquariuses (who're born anywhere on/from January 20th to February 18th).
