Donny Osmond is a recurring guest star character in Johnny Bravo. He is based on the real-life pop singer of the same name.
Biography[]
Donny first appears in the Season 1 episode "Johnny Meets Donny Osmond" where he was Johnny's nanny, he made his second appearance in "A Johnny Bravo Christmas", his third appearance in "It's Valentines Day Johnny Bravo", a cameo appearance in "Home Alone", and his final appearance in the Season 4 episode "That's Entertainment!"
Personality[]
Donny is a very friendly and peppy guy who has happy-go-lucky interactions with other characters, including Johnny. While he never seems to get angry or sad, he has been shown to take offense, but can get over it quickly through looking on the bright side. Like when Johnny threw his guitar away over a mountain, which caused Donny to feel unhappy, but he got over it quickly since he also brought his bagpipes with him.
Appearance[]
Donny appears in a pink shirt with a purple vest and pinkish-red slacks. His outfit, hairstyle, and youthful appearance bears strong resemblance on the real-life Donny in the 1970s.
Trivia[]
- Donny's design and portrayal in the series are based on his depiction from the Osmond Family's 1972 animated series.
- In the original Season 2 series bible (written by Van Partible and Seth MacFarlane, before the show's first retooling), it appears Donny Osmond was planned to be reworked into an original, more prominent character named Jim Dandy who wanted to be Johnny's best friend. This character was later retooled into Carl Chryniszzswics.
- It is likely that Dandy was created due to the possibility of Osmond not being able to return (or, more specifically, join the main cast) for the second season.
- In "My Funny Looking Friend", a character with Donny's design appears in the audition line in front of Johnny's house, although with a different color scheme. It is likely that this was meant to be a cameo and the color scheme was only an animation error.
