"Bravo, James Bravo" is a Season 1 episode of Johnny Bravo.

Synopsis[]

Johnny hits on a beautiful woman named Jane Bonded, who turns out to be a secret agent. When Johnny compromises security at Jane's headquarters, her boss makes them work together to defeat the evil Dr. Pencilneck and thwart his nefarious—yet incredibly politically correct—scheme.

Plot[]

Johnny visits Aron City University to pick up girls. He approaches a pretty woman typing away on a laptop. He asks what she is up to, and she nonchalantly tells him that she is repositioning a laser satellite. She makes the satellite fire at Johnny, but seems disappointed that the shot didn't kill him. She leaves, and Johnny sets his sights on another cute lady, a red-head in a trench coat sneaking around the nuclear physics building. Johnny approaches her and introduces himself, but she tells him to leave due to the danger.

The woman, Jane Bonded, enters the building and stops a short, portly scientist from stealing plutonium. Johnny interrupts, and holds Jane, saying he will protect her. But, Dr. Pencilneck fires a tiny rocket from his pocket, and it flies into Johnny's hair, sending him and Jane crashing through the roof. The pair flies past a helicopter where Jane's boss, W, and the pilot see them. They retrieve Johnny and Jane and return to their headquarters. Once there, W and Jane tell Johnny that they are secret agents, and since Johnny compromised Jane's mission, he must help her stop Dr. Pencilneck. W shows them various gadgets to use, like a comb-shaped bomb, a laser hidden in a compact mirror, and a hairspray can that sprays various lethal substances.

The group flies toward Pencilneck's lair, where W briefs them. They are tasked with finding the mad scientist's doomsday device - the Lookalikealator. W doesn't know what the machine does, but tells them to destroy it anyway. Johnny and Jane parachute in. Jane tells Johnny that they will need to be sneaky to enter the lair. Johnny notices that they are about to land on Pencilneck's guards. Johnny hollers at them to move out of the way, and once he and Jane land safely, the guards pummel them and bring them to Dr. Pencilneck. Pencilneck restrains Johnny and Jane and gloats about his evil plan nearing completion. He will fire the Lookalikealator, which will change every person's appearance into that of his own. Everyone will look the same, and no one will be made fun of for their appearance. Jane declares this terrible, but also politically correct. Johnny requests that if he is going to lose his face, he would like to look at it one more time before Pencilneck activates the machine. Pencilneck agrees, and lets Johnny free of his bonds.

Johnny reaches into his pocket and pulls out the comb bomb and the laser compact. He combs his hair, activating the bomb, then hands it to a guard. Then, he fires the laser at the guards' helmets, making them the laser ricochet into Jane's restraints and setting her free. The guards try to stop them, but the comb explodes, knocking Johnny onto the machine, and Jane onto Pencilneck. With the laser deactivated, and the scientist subdued, Jane calls for pickup.

Pencilneck is taken to jail. W asks Johnny to not tell anyone about that day's events. Johnny swears not to tell, but wants a kiss from Jane in exchange. Jane applies some lipstick and gives Johnny a big kiss on the lips. She then says she feels funny and that the lipstick was supposed to have given Johnny malaria. She faints and collapses on top of Johnny, who is nonetheless pleased.

Trivia[]

  • This episode's title and plot parodies the James Bond series, with Jane Bonded being a female spoof on the title character.
  • This is one of the few times, Johnny succeeds in getting a woman.
  • When everyone on the plane is trying to say the name of the machine, Johnny says the Look-Alike-The-Langolier; being a Stephen King book and movie about a commercial flight gone wrong, the Langoliers being fictional creatures from Craig Toomey’s childhood; and ultimately what they call the creatures who eat the past to make room for the present.
