"A Gel for Johnny" is a Season 2 episode of Johnny Bravo.
Synopsis[]
One of Johnny's worst nightmares becomes reality when he runs out of "Mr. Kevin's Triple-Strength Hair Cement", his hair gel.
Plot Summary[]
A radio alarm clock wakes Johnny up. He gets ready to start his day with his hair routine. He reaches for a bottle of "Mr. Kevin's Triple-Strength Hair Cement", but the bottle is empty. Johnny then goes for his emergency tube of Mr. Kevin's, but the tube is on its last drops. Johnny works the product into his hair and says it's just enough to get him to the store to purchase more.
Johnny heads to the $1.03 Store, which is owned and operated by an elderly couple named Mr. and Mrs. Minsky -- after greeting the married shopkeepers, Johnny heads to the aisle with all the haircare products. But after noticing that there aren't any Mr. Kevin's-brand products, Mr. Minsky explains to Johnny that the company that produces the brand is going through a work strike, so production on all products (including hair gel) has stopped, which means that there's no Mr. Kevin's-brand hair gel in the entire town. This upsets Johnny, but Mr. Minsky points out that there's plenty of hair gels that he could try -- Johnny decides to try some of the other products and as Mr. Minsky is ringing him up, the elderly shopkeeper tries assuring Johnny that his hair looks just fine. But just as Mr. Minsky says this, Johnny's pompadour starts coming undone.
Johnny rushes home and, as soon as he's in his bedroom, he starts trying out the various other brands of hair gel, but none of them work for him like Mr. Kevin's-brand hair gel does. Johnny's hair eventually becomes a matted mess, which greatly upsets him -- Suzy soon sees him and after Johnny explains the situation to her, she decides to try fixing Johnny's hair herself while they watch the latest Gabbity Abby-video. But Suzy just ends up making Johnny's situation worse, and he ultimately flees her house screaming.
Johnny heads to Pops' diner and laments his situation to the restaurateur, who questions the meathead on what brand of hair gel he usually uses. When Johnny claims that he usually uses "Mr. Kevin's Triple Strength Hair Cement," Pops reveals that the Mr. Kevin's-brand of hair gel is one of the main ingredients in his diner's five-alarm chili and takes Johnny to the kitchen. After Johnny dunks his head into the bubbling pot of chili on the stove and works it through his hair, his pompadour is back to normal. Johnny's ecstatic and thanks Pops for his help, who in turn asks Johnny not to tell anyone (particularly the health department) about his discovery.
However, as soon as Johnny leaves the diner, he is attacked by flies, birds, cats, dogs, and a giant ant, who are all attracted to the meaty smell of Johnny's hair. The bugs and animals chase Johnny across the city and out into the desert. Exhausted, thirsty, and his hair again ruined, Johnny begs anyone for some hair gel. He then looks up and sees a hair gel oasis, full of beautiful women and pools of hair gel. Johnny happily runs towards it and gets pampered by the women. They even offer him some lemonade, courtesy of Mr. Kevin himself. One of the women starts explaining how perfect the hair gel oasis is, but she suddenly starts talking like a cheesy radio emcee.
Johnny awakens back in his room, his radio alarm clock going off beside him. He turns the alarm off and is relieved that he was only having a bad dream. But when he gets out of bed to start his daily routine, it becomes apparent that his nightmare might end up becoming a reality when Johnny notices that the Mr. Kevin's-bottle he tries using is completely empty. The episode ends with Johnny screaming, only pausing to squeeze the bottle of hair gel again.
